W. Atlee Burpee Co. has named James (Jamie) Mattikow, a Lafayette College graduate, as president and chief executive officer.
Burpee sells garden supplies through its catalogue and at retail outlets. The company said in a BusinessWire statement that Mattikow, 55, has marketing and brand-management experience from earlier jobs at Ferrara Candy, Kraft, Mars, Hasbro and Seagram.
Mattikow is a graduate of Lafayette with an MBA from Columbia University.
Burplee is based in Warminster, in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. George Ball, who bought Burpee in 1991, will remain as chairman of the company.
