See the Income Tax Return of Lehigh Valley Public Media, AKA PBS 39

I have been writing about the financial follies at PBS 39 / Lehigh Valley Public Media. My work is based on public records, including the organization’s Form 990, filed annually with the Internal Revenue Service.

It includes expenses, revenue, “related transactions” (business dealings with board members, etc.) and salaries.

For example, the top four officers’ salaries of the Bethlehem-based media outlet are listed. Interestingly, three of the four are no longer on the staff list, and Chief Executive and President Tim Fallon is now CEO Emeritus.

Fallon made $308,084 as head of this organization in the year covered by the fiscal 2023 Form 990. That is the year Lehigh Valley Public Media lost $8.66 million, or almost $1,000 per hour.

That is … almost $1,000 … PER HOUR.

And how do they want to fix their problems? Getting more public money is a big part of the solution.

Their solution, anyway. I’ve been contacting public officials with details of this mess — firing staff, moving away from the original mission and not being held to account — to various elected officials, and I’m starting to get some feedback. More on that tomorrow.

Omg!!! Thank you. Finally someone willing to expose this. It has been an ongoing issue for years. And to think we got 2% raises about every 4 years. Meanwhile, Tim Fallon was making over 300k. I’d bet Yoni was making around 250k and he was a disaster. Money wasted! For what???? Thanks for writing this article.

Salaries of the former top four officers are listed in another post and are available in the Form 990.
