Bosch Rexroth, a maker of gears, hydraulic devices, robots and other industrial equipment, plans a 52,395-square-foot expansion of its warehouse and office building at 2300 City Line Road.
The German company said in documents provided to the city that the building will cover a parking lot. The structure will be 34 feet 7 inches high, with five truck-loading bays. With parking, access roads and landscaping, about 5 acres total will be used.
Bosch Rexroth also wants a waiver so it won’t have to put in sidewalks on the property frontage along City Line Road. The property is near Airport Road, in an industrial area on the Lehigh County side of Bethlehem.
The Bethlehem Planning Commission will consider the proposal at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 12, at Town Hall. The meeting will also be available via livestream.
I hope the commission takes a hard look at that request for a sidewalk waiver. Unless there’s some compelling reason, make sure they are put in.
