Police cars started rushing down Butztown Road around 9 p.m. on Thursday, after a shooting near Governor Wolf Elementary School. Later, an ambulance left the scene.
The Bethlehem Area School District closed Governor Wolf for Friday because of the investigation.
Here’s the statement from the BASD:
** Last night a shooting took place near Governor Wolf Elementary School. The shooting did not involve the school, but the police are conducting an investigation of the area.
Due to that ongoing police investigation, Governor Wolf Elementary School will be closed today, Friday September 27th, 2024. Thank you for your understanding. **
Governor Wolf Elementary School is in the 1900 block of Butztown Road. The City of Bethlehem Police Department has not announced any arrests as of 8:45 a.m. Friday.
The school is in a residential neighborhood in Bethlehem, just north of Easton Avenue. Behind the school is a small park with ball fields.
