Lehigh Valley Ramblings (LVR) sees a potential upset in the 137th District, where Democrat Anna Thomas is taking on incumbent Republican Joe Emrick for a seat in the Pennsylvania House.
I don’t live in the 137th — I live in neighbor Steve Samuelson’s safe district in Bethlehem — but I do see a lot of Thomas campaign material.
The 137th extends into Bethlehem Township, Hanover Township (Northampton County), Nazareth, Lower Nazareth, Upper Nazareth, Tatamy and Palmer Township, according to a map on Emrick’s website.
LVR also points out a bill Emrick presented that would allow public votes on some warehouse developments.
The bill is ridiculous and will never become law. What would be next? Voting on whether a corner lot should be Wawa or Sheetz? A school or a parking lot? Nonsense.
“We don’t want any more houses! Make it a petting zoo!”
The 137th District has a lot of warehouse development, but this bill isn’t going to do anything.
An upset looks like a gutsy call here. We will see in November.
