A new mausoleum is taking shape at Holy Saviour Cemetery in Bethlehem.
The new structure is going up behind the existing mausoleum facing Linden Street. Crypts are brought in on a large truck and put into place by a crane.

The term “mausoleum” dates back to a King Mausolus, who built an elaborate tomb for himself. The king’s resting place is in what is now Turkey.
The Catholic Diocese of Allentown operates two cemeteries, Holy Saviour and Resurrection Cemetery in Upper Macungie Township, west of Allentown.

Note, there is a distinction between a cemetery and a graveyard, as I found out during a tour of the tombs beneath the Basilica of St. Patrick’s Old Cathedral in New York City. The old church at 263 Mulberry St. is in the Nolita, or north of Little Italy, neighborhood in Lower Manhattan.
During the tour, our guide told us that a cemetery is usually a larger burial ground that does not necessarily have a church on the site, while a graveyard is a burial place on or next to a church’s grounds.
