Allegiant, the main passenger airline operating out of Lehigh Valley International Airport, has reported a 1.9% drop in total passengers in September throughout its system.
The Las Vegas-based airline said in a press release that it served 969,844 passengers throughout its system, down from 989,981 in September 2023. Those numbers are for scheduled flights, not fixed-fee flights.
Load factor — which measures how full passenger flights are — for scheduled flights in September was 83.3%, up from 82.8% in the year-ago month.
Allegiant serves several resort and Sunbelt destinations from LVIA in Hanover Township (Lehigh County). The September traffic press release did not break down passenger numbers by airport.
Earlier this year, Allegiant said it would end a flight between the Lehigh Valley and Denver.
Allegiant’s estimated average fuel cost in September 2024 was $2.49 per gallon, according to the statement.
Shares in the airline are traded on the NASDAQ market under the ticker symbol ALGT. The closing price Tuesday was $62.87, giving the company a market capitalization of $1.15 billion.
LVIA is also served by United, American and Delta, which contract with smaller airlines for flights to and from the Lehigh Valley.
