B. Braun Acts to Secure Supply of IV Products After Hurricane Damage at Southern Plants; Local Production to Increase

— Jeff Ward, Lehigh Valley News Briefs

B. Braun Medical has taken steps to secure a supply of IV fluids, in the wake of hurricanes in the southern U.S.

The Bethlehem-based maker of equipment for administering medicine via infusion said Hurricane Milton did not cause severe damage at its intravenous products plant in Daytona Beach, Florida, and operations there resumed Oct. 11.

In advance of the storm, B. Braun worked with the federal government to move 60 truckloads of IV products north of Florida. Those products are now going back to Daytona Beach.

The company said Hurricane Helene damaged a large IV fluids plant in North Carolina. In response, B. Braun said production of IV fluids will increase in Daytona Beach and at a B. Braun plant in Irvine, Cailfornia, the company said.

The company is also boosting the production of tubing, valves, connectors and other devices at its plant in Allentown.

B. Braun Medical is part of the B. Braun Group of Companies, based in Germany and employing more than 64,000 people worldwide.
