JPMorgan Chase continues to open branches while other national banks close them.
Chase plans to open an office at the southeast corner of Freemansburg Avenue and Wagner Drive in Bethlehem Township, across from the CVS. Multiple development plans have been proposed for the intersection.
Freemansburg Avenue has seen a lot of development. Toward the west, an 866,350-square-foot warehouse has been approved, and to the east, St. Luke’s University Health Network is expanding its campus just off Route 33.
Residents are concerned about traffic, but the township can’t block permitted uses from being built.
JPMorgan Chase’s proposal was filed recently with the federal bank regulator.
JPMorgan is the largest U.S. bank. The other “Big Four” are Bank of America, Wells Fargo and Citibank.
Shares of JPMorgan (NYSE:JPM) were trading at $243.40 at 9:55 a.m. Thursday.
