**Update: Bethlehem City Council approved this purchase in October for the south Bethlehem Greenway, for open space and a path. See link to the October agenda item. The old railroad land covers 11.8 acres. Grants covered the purchase.**
The City of Bethlehem has acquired four properties near Hellertown for a total price of $4.3 million, according to Northampton County property records.
The county lists the purchase of 1945 Silvex Road and other properties on Silvex Road, High Street and Ravena Street as of Nov. 25. All four properties are within the city limits.
The seller in each case was listed by the county as Pennsylvania Lines LLC, which at one time owned rail lines formerly controlled by the former Conrail.
Those lines were later taken over by Norfolk Southern, the Atlanta-based railroad.
