Developer to Pitch Zoning Change to Build 70-Unit Apartment Building on West Garrison Street in Bethlehem

— Jeff Ward, Lehigh Valley News Briefs

A developer is asking Bethlehem City Council for a zoning change to clear the way for a 70-unit apartment building on West Garrison Street.

That request will go before Bethlehem City Council on Tuesday under the “Communications” part of the agenda, not as a voting item.

BPG II Investments, a limited-liability corporation, seeks to change the zoning for 11 and 15 West Garrison Street, just off New Street, from High Density Residential to Central Business, and to combine those lots with two other parcels of land.

The proposed apartment building would have retail and commercial space on its first floor. Attorney Michael Recchiuti presented the proposal to the city on Dec. 30.

Bethlehem City Council will meet at 7 p.m. on Jan. 7. The agenda also includes several appointments to board, usually non-controversial items.

Agendas are subject to change. Check the city website. The meeting will also be presented on Bethlehem’s YouTube channel.
