A Lehigh County Prison inmate who was charged with homicide and abuse of a corpse died Saturday.
Joshua Moser, 34, of Slatington died at a local hospital after prison staff tried to save him. An autopsy will determine the cause of death; suicide is suspected.

District Attorney Gavin P. Holihan is releasing information on the death of a Lehigh County Jail inmate.
Joshua Moser, DOB 7/24/1990, of Slatington, was found alone in a single jail cell on Jan. 11, 2025. An autopsy will be conducted on Jan. 13, 2025. Currently the cause and manner of death remain pending.
An investigation by the District Attorney’s Office remains ongoing, but it appears Moser’s death is a suicide.
Moser was discovered by staff who attempted to perform life-saving measures and he was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead on Saturday afternoon.
Moser was charged in May 2024 with the death of 37-year-old David Hittinger.
Hittinger’s body had been dismembered and scattered in multiple locations.
Moser faced charges of Criminal Homicide, Abuse of a Corpse and Tampering with Physical Evidence.
****Note: Hittinger was Moser’s roommate at the time of Hittinger’s death.
Horrible ! The killing, & suicide. Wonder if victim was to unstable to be left alone ?
