— Jeff Ward, Lehigh Valley News Briefs

Our Rescue, a non-government group that fights sex trafficking and child exploitation, has awarded Bloom for Women of Bethlehem a $20,000 grant.

Bloom for Women says on its website that it helps women who were victims of sex trafficking.

“As part of our mission, Bloom operates five homes in the Lehigh Valley area of Pennsylvania to help women survivors of sex trafficking and sexual exploitation,” according to the website.

It is a Christian organization, but says “Survivors do not have to be Christian or become Christian to take advantage of Bloom’s services and the services or quality of care that a survivor receives does not depend on spiritual beliefs.”

Minneapolis-based Our Rescue said in a statement that it made grants to 10 non-profit organizations across the U.S., totaling $260,000.

Bloom for Women operates a studio and a store, My Sister’s Closet, at 3650 Nazareth Pike (aka Linden Street/Route 191) in Bethlehem.

“My Sister’s Closet is an upscale resale boutique based in Bethlehem, Pa. offering women’s clothing and accessories, as well as maternity and baby clothing … “the organization’s website says.
