Pickleball Kingdom will open in Whitehall Township in October.
Franchisees Chris and BethAnn Monteith will open the sports venue at 2180 MacArthur Road. Pickleball Kingdom will cover 55,000 square feet with 14 indoor courts, with programs for all skill levels.
Pickleball is a racquet sport that has swept across the country and while it’s sometimes considered a game for older people, it’s played by all ages.
Chris Monteith said in a Pickleball Kingdom statement that there is a shortage in the Lehigh Valley of year-round courts.
Chris Monteith formerly worked with Coca Cola, and BethAnn is an accountant. They have been involved in other businesses, including LightSpeed Logistics, which delivers for Amazon.

Pickleball Kingdom is based in Chandler, Arizona. The game pickleball was invented in 1965 near Seattle. The origin of the name is debated, but it may be related to the look of the ball, or the name of the dog of one of the original players.
