St. Luke’s Pays $5.8 Million for Lower Macungie Church

— Jeff Ward, Lehigh Valley News Briefs

St. Luke’s Health Network has paid $5.8 million for a church property in Lower Macungie Township, according to Lehigh County property records.

The hospital chain now owns the former Bethany United Methodist Church site at 3801 Brookside Road, near Eyer Middle School.

The church had two campuses, and now is based in Wescosville at 1208 Brookside Road.

Bethany United acquired the 22.5-acre property in 2006 for $1.47 million, according to the county records. That is a little more than one-quarter of the $5.8 million St. Luke’s paid.

The sale to the hospital chain was completed in January.

St. Luke’s University Health Network has 15 campuses and more than 300 sites in Lehigh, Northampton, Carbon, Schuylkill, Bucks, Montgomery, Berks, Monroe and Luzerne counties in Pennsylvania, and operates in Warren and Hunterdon counties in New Jersey.
