Allegiant, the dominant passenger airline at Lehigh Valley International Airport, reported a 14% increase in passengers in March, compared to the year-ago month.
The Las Vegas-based discount airline said it carried 1.89 million people nationally in March. That number is for scheduled service, not charters.
The airline paid $2.52 per gallon of fuel in the month, according to a company statement.
Allegiant takes Lehigh Valley travelers to Sunbelt locations in South Carolina and Florida, and to Nashville, Tennessee, and Denver. The airline flies routes where it can go out and back in the same day.
This link shows non-stop routes available from LVIA. The airport is also served by United, Delta and American airlines, which contract with smaller carriers for routes from the Allentown area.
Shares in Allegiant (NASDAQ:ALGT) were trading at $43.01 before the opening of regular market hours on Monday.
