The proposed Tempo by Hilton hotel in South Bethlehem will be considered by Bethlehem’s Historic Conservation Commission on May 19.
The developer, known as Patriot Ventures, plans an eight-story 141-room hotel at 14-36 W. Third St., near Third and New streets. Five lots would be consolidated to clear the way.
Hotel amenities would include “a ground floor lobby restaurant & bar, meeting space, 7th floor fitness center, and rooftop bar,” according to documents submitted to commission.
Tempo by Hilton is one of Hilton’s 24 brands. According to the Hilton website, “Tempo by Hilton provides elevated yet approachable hotel experiences so guests can maintain their personal and professional routines.”
I have no idea what that means. Here is another description from Hilton.
Issues before the commission will include building height, the Third Street facade at ground level, along with building materials.
“Additionally, the applicant will work in conjunction with the city of Bethlehem to design and improve the extension to the South Bethlehem Greenway, which runs directly behind the site,” according to the documents.
The City of Bethlehem’s Historic Conservation Commission will meet at 6 p.m. on Monday, May 19, in Town Hall. See this for the agenda and a link to a webcast of the meeting.
The Historic Conservation Commission is an advisory body.
Agendas are subject to change.
That triangular-shaped tract has been touted as getting a hotel for a LONG time… the papers have repeatedly run photos of what it would look like. Give the developer a good grade for perseverance. Bob Frable, East
