911 Outage Affects Parts of Pennsylvania, Alert Says; Northampton County Provides Alternate Number

July 11, 2025

— Jeff Ward, Lehigh Valley News Briefs

I received what appears to be a legitimate Pennsylvania alert about a 911 outage in some areas.

So don’t call 911 just to see if it’s working but be prepared with other contacts.

This from Northampton County:

According to the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency, there is a statewide outage of Next Gen 911. If you have an emergency in Northampton County, call the 911 Center using 610-759-2200. We will provide updates as we become aware of them.

The non-emergency number for the Bethlehem Police Department is 610-865-7187 and 610-865-7000 will get you through too.

Other sources also indicate 911 problems in Pennsylvania. Ideally, we won’t need to call.
