If anybody wants to get on the list for housing at 732 E. Goepp St., Bethlehem, do it by 4 p.m. Tuesday.
The Northampton County Housing Authority will stop accepting new names for the Goepp Street Apartments waiting list because wait times exceed 12 months.
By chance, I was at the apartments earlier this week and they look like a nice place to live. They are at the far end of East Goepp Street, overlooking an industrial area to the east of Stefko Boulevard, and a couple blocks north of the Wawa on East Broad Street.
It’s not the kind of place you’d just happen upon, so it may be that some people who might be interested wouldn’t know the apartments exist.
The three-story building has 54 apartments. To live there, people must be 55 and up, with a maximum income of $42,180 for one person, $48,240 for two. A small percentage of people who are physically handicapped and under age 55 are allowed, according to the authority.
The authority works with the federal and state government to provide “affordable housing.” That term means different things to different people, thus income limits are set.
Here’s what the authority had to say:
The Northampton County Housing Authority is closing the waiting list for Goepp St. Apartments, due to current wait times exceeding 12 months.
The waiting list will close at 4:00pm on Tuesday, July 15, 2025.
Applicants already on the waitlist will not be affected and we will continue to process all applications in the order received. When the determination has been made to reopen the waiting list, a public notice will be posted. Visit the Housing Authority’s website for additional information at www.northamptoncountyha.org
