No Charges Filed in Fatal Allentown Shooting

Deadly force was justified in an early morning shooting in Allentown on July 6, Lehigh County District Attorney Gavin P. Holihan said today.

The D.A. didn’t identify the shooter in the Hamilton Street incident because no charges were filed.

Tamir Johnson, a Kutztown University graduate, got out of a car and swung a bat at another vehicle, according to the statement.

The unidentified man shot Johnson once.

The shooter stayed at the scene and was legally carrying the handgun.

While the shooting was deemed justified, Holihan noted the impact on Johnson’s family and on the shooter.
