— Jeff Ward, Lehigh Valley News Briefs
Allegiant Travel, the dominant passenger airline out of Lehigh Valley International Airport, served 2 million passengers in June, up 9.6% from a year ago.
The airline’s load factor for scheduled service, which measures how full the planes are, was down 2 percentage points to 84.6% from 86.%. The monthly statistics are for Allegiant’s entire system and not broken out by airports.
Las Vegas-based Allegiant carries Lehigh Valley residents to Sunbelt locations in South Carolina and Florida. It also offers flights to Nashville, Tennessee, and Denver; see this link for their non-stop destinations from LVIA in Hanover Township.
LVIA is also served by Delta, American and United airlines, but those bigger carriers hire contractors for flights.
