Shift4, the Lehigh County-based payments processer, is going to handle ticket sales, food and beverage concessions and retail sales for the Detroit Lions.

Perhaps they can also help the team make it to the Super Bowl.

The National Football League team plays at Ford Field in Detroit. The Lions are the NFL’s fifth-oldest in the NFL and still have never been to the Super Bowl. The Cardinals are the oldest and they suffer their own postseason curse thanks to mistreatment of the Pottsville Maroons.

Shift4, with headquarters in Upper Saucon Township, processes credit-card payments for hotels, restaurants, teams in every big U.S. sports league, colleges, casinos and other venues.

The Lions will use Shift4’s SkyTab point-of-sale technology, perhaps helping people get through lines faster so they will miss less of the action.

Shift4 (NYSE:FOUR) is one of three locally based companies that are traded on the New York Stock Exchange. As of 12:42 p.m. today (Aug. 20), shares were trading at $90.01, giving the company a market capitalization of about $8 billion.

The company’s billionaire founder, Jared Isaacman, stepped up to executive chairman this year, and Taylor Lauber moved up to chief executive.

Chief Financial Officer Nancy Disman is leaving her post as of Sept. 1 and will remain as a senior adviser until her retirement on Jan. 2, 2026. That move was announced during the company’s last earnings call.
