Sept. 10, 2025

— Jeff Ward, Lehigh Valley News Briefs

Lackawanna College is adding three centers, including one in Bethlehem, to teach trade skills.

The Scranton-based school said the sites in Bethlehem, Greensburg and Chambersburg will open in the spring of 2026. The Bethlehem-area site is at 3184 Airport Road, across from Lehigh Valley International Airport.

Lackawanna said it will teach trade skills that are in demand:

“All three locations will offer a new associate degree for the college in welding and fabrication technology. The Bethlehem center will offer new associate degrees in carpentry and construction technology as well as an electrical technology program,” the school statement said.

Here’s a cut-and-paste version of the statement:

Lackawanna College is proud to announce the opening of three new satellite centers focusing on skilled trade programs. These new programs will help address the demand for qualified graduates in the trades that Pennsylvania employers are seeking to fill.

Coming Spring 2026: Three New Locations

After receiving approval from the Middle States Commission of Higher Education, Lackawanna College will open three new satellite centers in:

 Bethlehem, PA
 Chambersburg, PA
 Greensburg, PA

These three new satellite centers expand access to Lackawanna College’s technical education and manufacturing programs in communities throughout southern and western Pennsylvania.

Programs That Meet Demand

All three locations will offer a new associate degree for the college in welding and fabrication technology. The Bethlehem center will offer new associate degrees in carpentry and construction technology as well as an electrical technology program. The Greensburg center will launch its electrical technology program in the fall 2026 semester.

“There is increasing need across Pennsylvania for highly skilled workers in key trades, including welding, electrical, construction and carpentry. With the addition of these three satellite centers, we are establishing a strong pipeline of skilled workers right in the communities we serve,” said Dr. Jill A. Murray, President and Chief Innovation Officer at Lackawanna College. “Today’s students deserve more pathways to successful careers in their hometowns. At Lackawanna, we’re focused on expanding and investing in programs that enable Pennsylvanians to learn, work and make an impact right in their communities.”

The addition of other program pathways, including certificate programs, are currently being planned for each location.

What’s Next?

A ribbon cutting ceremony is planned for each location this fall to celebrate each satellite center’s grand opening.
