Shift4, the Lehigh County-based processor of credit-card payments, is in exclusive negotiations to acquire businesses that serve about 140,000 customers.

The company said in a statement today that it is in talks to buy the Bambora North America subsidiaries of Worldline.

“Bambora North America serves over 140,000 merchants across the United States and Canada,” according to the Shift4 statement. No financial terms were noted, and as of now, no deal has been completed.

“This is a textbook Shift4 acquisition, delivering a massive funnel of gateway customers and payments volume to cross-sell onto our global acquiring platform,” said Shift4 Chief Executive Officer Taylor Lauber.

Shares of Upper Saucon Township-based Shift4 (NYSE:FOUR) were down $1.26 to $75.65 at 10:30 a.m. today. Worldline shares traded in the U.S. over the counter were a $3.07.

Worldline is based in Paris.

Jared Isaacman may yet be the head of NASA.

Meanwhile, the Wall Street Journal has reported that Shift4 founder and former CEO Jared Isaacman may be up yet again for the job of running NASA.

Isaacman is a billionaire and two-time voyager into space. He went into orbit on missions with SpaceX, Elon Musk’s aeronautics business. Isaacman founded what is now Shift4 in the basement of his New Jersey family home in 1999, when he was 16.

He was nominated to run NASA earlier this year, but no hearings were held on the appointment.
