Engineered Material Solutions plans to close its Berks County plant next year, costing 58 people their jobs.
The plant at 600 Valley Road in Hamburg will start cutting jobs Jan. 2, 2026, and continue through Oct. 31, according to a WARN Notice filed with the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry. The notices are required by federal law to inform workers and communities.
Engineered Material Solutions makes metal parts for many industries, including aerospace, defense, optics, medical, and others, according to the company’s website.
The company has operations in Massachusetts and Colorado, and two locations in China in addition to the Berks site.
Engineered Material Solutions is owned by The Wickeder Group, based in Germany.
