The Borough of Hellertown has posted this reminder about icy sidewalks:
We know the 12/26/2025 ice event was a difficult one. Thank you to everyone who worked to address hazardous conditions. As a reminder, Borough Ordinance §385-2 (Exception to Removal) states that when snow or ice is “frozen so hard that it cannot be removed without injury to the sidewalk,” it must be strewn with sand, ashes, sawdust, or other suitable material so as to be no longer dangerous, and fully cleared as soon as practicable thereafter. Thank you for helping keep Hellertown safe and walkable during challenging winter weather!
The borough website:
they should use all the extra money they got from destroying and decimating the water shed, and the game preserves for the trees(lumber) they removed, at a huge huge profit…. none of which goes back to the community in any shape… hellertown has a history of having corrupt government and borough officials.. they were being investigated recently. The residents should be responsible for the clearing of snow or ice on the sidewalk, since no one has ownership of the sidewalk except the township…. they should be responsible
