Amazon is firing 983 workers in eastern Pennsylvania as it closes Amazon Fresh stores.
The online retailer is shutting six stores in Philadelphia, Bucks, Montgomery and Delaware counties, according to a WARN Notice.
WARN notices are required by federal law to advise communities of job cuts. Not all cuts require the notice.
Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN) has a market capitalization of $2.58 trillion. It owns Whole Foods Market.
