Some people call the Lehigh Valley the “Warehouse Valley,” but maybe it’s becoming “Medical Valley.”
St. Luke’s University Health Network has acquired the former Western Salisbury Volunteer Fire Co. station for $380,000. Lehigh County recorded the sale of the building at 3425 Eisenhower Drive in Salisbury Township in December.
The fire company relocated to 950 S. Ott St. some time ago. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Salisbury Township held some meetings at the older building for extra space to accommodate social distancing.
St. Luke’s recently acquired a former Rite Aid in Hellertown for $2.85 million. That will be used as a medical office. I couldn’t find any record on the Salisbury Township website of plans for the old fire station.
St. Luke’s and rival Jefferson Health, which is based in Philadelphia and operates locally under the Lehigh Valley Health Network (LVHN) brand, have been buying and building.
Tom Hall Auctions announced the sale of the property for $380,000 earlier but did not disclose the buyer. The opening bid for the auction was $185,000, so the half-acre property went for a little more than twice the minimum. The property is near Route 309 and Route 78.
