The Allentown School District has sought bids for a look at its future.

The bids, which were due by noon today, are for “an analysis of demographics, community growth patterns and projections of enrollments,” according to the ASD’s RFP (request for proposal).

The RFP is 30 pages long, much of it just “boilerplate” or routine language and forms. The goal of the study is to provide a guide to planning, according to the document.

“The District will utilize this “Analysis” to guide top side, long term decision making regarding staffing, facility capital
planning, financial forecasting, etc.,” according to the RFP.

In addition to that work, the vendpr also needs to be of “the highest moral character.” That is vague, but the district spells out some requirements:

“It is recognized that, for the protection of the children, all persons affiliated with and/or employed by the
vendor must be of stable personality, and the highest moral character. Any persons working on school
grounds shall obtain the necessary clearances. The cost to obtain these clearances shall be the
responsibility of the vendor who is awarded the contract. Copies of the clearances shall be given to the
district upon their request.”

The Allentown School District serves about 16,500 students in 25 schools.
