The Center for Animal Health & Welfare has paid $1.075 million for a kennel in Bushkill Township.

Northampton County recorded the sale of Homestead Kennels and Cattery at 575 Jacobsburg Road as of March 4. The property covers about 6.6 acres, according to county records.

The Williams Township-based Center posted on Facebook Feb. 27 that it was acquiring the business to add revenue.

The Center on Island Park Road and the Bushkill Township business will operate separately.

“Homestead Kennels will continue to operate as a grooming and boarding facility,” according to the post. The Center “will continue to care for stray, surrendered and abandoned animals and manage adoptions” at the Williams Township facility.

The post noted that the Center is an independent not-for-program organization, relying on fundraising, donations and bequests for 90% of its income. It is not funded by the government.

“Diversifying our revenue stream is important to continue to offset the ever-growing costs of the live-saving work that we do everyday,” according to the Center’s post.
