Six Flags, owner of Dorney Park, has agreed to sell a former amusement-park property in Maryland to an investor group led by Kevin Durant.
The buyer group includes 35V, a firm co-founded by Durant, and Atlanta-based TPA Group, according to a federal filing by Six Flags.
The park was known as Six Flags America before closing in 2025. The property covers about 500 acres. No plans have been announced for use of the land.
Durant, 37, is a Maryland native. He has played in the National Basketball Association since 2007. He is on the Houston Rockets this season.
Six Flags said in a U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission filing that it will use proceeds of the sale to pay debt.
The company has been plagued by debt and poor financial results since a 2024 merger with Cedar Fair, the previous owner of Dorney Park and Wildwater Kingdom in South Whitehall Township.
The transaction with Durant’s group is not complete and no sales price has been announced.
Shares of Six Flags (NYSE:FUN) traded at $19.17, up $1.04, at 2 p.m. today. That’s about half of the 52-week high of $38.47.
Disclosure: I own shares in Six Flags.
So far this year, Six Flags has announced the sale of six operating parks, and a seventh sale is proceeding. Dorney Park is not included in those sales.
Here’s a paragraph lifted from the SEC filing:
On April 8, 2026, Six Flags Entertainment Corporation (the “Company”) announced that its subsidiary Six Flags America Property Corporation, entered into a purchase agreement to sell certain real property located in Prince George’s County, Maryland, to a joint venture between 35V, the investment firm co-founded by NBA champion Kevin Durant and Rich Kleiman, and Atlanta-based TPA Group (the “Transaction”). The Transaction is subject to buyer’s diligence and other closing conditions. The Company expects to use net proceeds from the Transaction to pay down the Company’s debt obligations.
