Northampton County Executive Lamont McClure Comments on Drones

— Jeff Ward, Lehigh Valley News Briefs

Northampton County Executive Lamont G. McClure commented on Facebook about reports of drone sightings Thursday night.

His Facebook post:

With respect to the drone sightings this evening in Northampton County, my guess is this may be a commercial enterprise, like Amazon for instance, testing a broad based package delivery system. It could be our Government, moving its drones similarly to the way it often moves its helicopters from Ft. Indiantown Gap through the Lehigh Valley. We could speculate endlessly. However, we shouldn’t have to do so. If it’s a business testing out a new service, it should say so publicly. If it’s our Government operating, it should inform the public. And, if our Government doesn’t know what’s going on, it should say so, and reassure us that it’s doing everything in its power to find out. We live in a time of almost unlimited information, often misinformation, being shared instantly. Without transparency, the internet will fill in the gaps, and that won’t be pretty. If a commercial enterprise or our Government has the information, the Public has a right to know what it is.

McClure points out the need for disclosure:

“Without transparency, the Internet will fill in the gaps, and that won’t be pretty.”

He is saying politely what I would say bluntly:

Every goofball in the county will post and repost nonsense without facts. That is the legacy of the Internet: endless nonsense.

And when the nonsense is proven false, those who posted it feel no shame, they move on to the next ridiculous claim.

People have “filled in the gaps” for about 5000 years before the internet.

Funny how people vacillate between civilian rights and corporate ones.

In these troubled times we should demand our government look into suspicious happenings right away & let we, the citizens who pay their salaries, know details so we don’t have to worry or make up assumptions, or even have to get into these comments to each other.

If you Don’t like the drones flying around you – shoot them down. Whoever is flying them will get the point very quickly – end of the story!

    Well Jeff,

Since you are in the government why don’t you tell us what it is instead of scolding those whom try and make sense of what they are seeing?

    Jeff Ward,

In the absence of clarity or the presence of downright lies, some of the public of late has called BS on a number of this regimes’ claims, were labeled conspirators, and then promoted by a left wing biased media, only to find out that it was not a conspiracy, it was truth. Of course not everything works this way but I’d temper your accusation with a bit of reality.

“…And when the nonsense is proven false, those who posted it feel no shame, they move on to the next ridiculous claim. …”

However, when truth that is labeled conspiracy is eventually proven true, the accusers of that “conspiracy” feign memeory loss and just move on. How about we be objective, Mr. Ward?
