LVHN Plans Expansion of Emergency Room at Muhlenberg Hospital; LVIP VII Plan Also Up for Review

— Jeff Ward, Lehigh Valley News Briefs

Lehigh Valley Health Network plans to expand the emergency room at its Muhlenberg site in Bethlehem.

LVHN’s plans for the Schoenersville Road facility are up for review Thursday at a Bethlehem Planning Commission meeting.

LVHN plans a multi-story expansion with rooftop helipad, for a net addition of 93,000 square feet, according to the plans. The plan also show an area for unloading ambulances with a canopy.

The Planning Commission will also take a look at plans for two buildings in Lehigh Valley Industrial Park VII, on Easton Road just off Route 78 and near the Hellertown border.

The plans show a 104,238-square-foot building and parking lot. The city’s response sees an increase in “impervious surface,” meaning a risk of stormwater runoff.

LVIP VII is former Bethlehem Steel Corp. and that is being used for warehouses and other commercial and industrial purposes.

The Bethlehem Planning Commission will meet at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 13 in Town Hall. The meeting will also be available online. See the city website for details.

Meeting agendas are subject to change. Check the city website before the meeting.

now your worried about impervious surface. What do you think all these warehouses are. I know they’re not in Bethlehem but what has this Lehigh Valley planning commission ever done about it. Nothing, they are a waste.
