Bethlehem will review a revised land-use ordinance on Tuesday.

Bethlehem City Council will meet Tuesday with what looks like a light agenda. The meeting will start at 5:30 p.m. because of Musikfest.

The big issue is an updated Subdivision and Land Development Ordinance, known affably as “SALDO.” It is not an exciting topic to most people under they find out somebody wants to put a warehouse across the street, then it brings out masses of residents, too late.

Here’s the agenda, which includes a link to a broadcast of the meeting.

The meeting will start with citations for Fire Chief Michael Reich; Police Officer Jason Ebert, and
Police Sergeants Patrick Maczko, Bryan Phelps, and Brian Quinn. The city does some odd stuff sometimes, and City Council strays into some off-topic conversations, but Bethlehem’s fire and police departments do their job.

Bethlehem City Council will meet at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 5, in Town Hall, the building on Church Street between City Hall and the Bethlehem Area Public Library.

Agendas are subject to change. Check the city website for information.

The proposed SALDO will also incorporate the city’s CAP which will drive up development costs.

The next step is change zoning to allow for more dense urban type development. The city can’t build out, but it wants to build up.

Dezoning the city will change the nature and character of the city.
