Northampton County Council passed Executive Lamont G. McClure’s 2026 no-tax-increase budget tonight, according to a county press release.
The budget is the eighth McClure has presented in his two terms as executive. Seven left county property taxes unchanged and one reduced the levy.
McClure, a Democrat, will leave office at the end of this year. He is one of several Democrats who have said they’re running for the U.S. Congress seat held by first-term Republican Ryan Mackenzie.
The county millage will remain at 10.8, or $10.80 per $1,000 of assessed property value. At that rate, the annual tax on a $50,000 property is $540.
Democrat Tara Zrinski, the county controller, will succeed McClure as executive.
Thank God
