St. Luke’s University Health Network has paid $750,000 for a former Lutheran church in South Bethlehem.
The hospital system announced the deal last September, but not the price. St. Luke’s acquired the former St. John’s Windish Evangelical Lutheran Church at 617 E. Fourth St. on Feb. 3, according to Northampton County records.
When the deal was announced, St. Luke’s put out a statement saying “The acquisition of the church site will allow St. Luke’s to build upon our successful partnership with the Hispanic Center and Star Community Health centers” to promote community health initiatives.
Lehigh University bought the property in 2023 as part of a deal that resulted in three congregations consolidating into one new church, according to the St. Luke’s statement.
St. Luke’s has been buying and building, recently acquiring a former fire station in Salisbury Township and an old Rite Aid store in Hellertown.
