The Wilson Borough Zoning Hearing Board will meet Feb. 24 to consider variances for the Wilson Area School District’s new stadium.

According to a legal ad posted by the borough, the school district seeks to put up stadium lights with heights of 80 feet to 90 feet, exceeding the maximum permitted, at the new stadium on Washington Boulevard.

The district also seeks to move a sign closer to Butler Street, and parking variances.

All the work is related to the construction of a new stadium and gym at Washington Boulevard and South 22nd Street.

The Wilson Borough Zoning Hearing Board will meet at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 24, at the municipal building, 2040 Hay Terrace.

Agendas are subject to change. Check the borough website closer to the meeting.

The Wilson Area School District’s Howard M. Smith Athletic Field was built in 1928, according to the district’s website. It was named for a school board member and local businessman.

The 2025 season was the last at the stadium after 97 years.
