The Meadows Road Bridge will open May 8, according to Lower Saucon Township.
The bridge will connect Lower Saucon and Hellertown. The new date, announced today, moves up the opening about a month from the last update.

The original bridge was a four-span stone structure over Saucon Creek, built in 1858 for $899.47. It was a commercial route for farmers to the Levi S. Moyer Grist Mill.
The bridge was deemed unsafe and closed in 2018, then demolished in 2022. That wasn’t a popular decision because of the bridge’s history, but Northampton County and the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation decided a new bridge was the best option.
Earlier, the cost of the new bridge was estimated at $3.1 million, with Pennsylvania paying 80% and Northampton County paying $600,000 or so.
