Upper Saucon Township is going to see a lot of development, but the township is also working on saving some open space.

The Board of Supervisors will meet May 11 to consider three properties that could be preserved as open space by the township taking a “real property interest” in the land.

Those properties are:

— 6529 Blue Church Road.

— 5620 Chestnut Hill Road.

— 5548 Chestnut Hill Road.

The township is in the midst of a development blitz of warehouses and potentially more than 1,200 homes on Center Valley Parkway. Upper Saucon is desirable property, with one industrial property selling for $150 million last year.

The Upper Saucon Township Board of Supervisors will hold a public hearing to consider preserving the open space at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, May 11, at the municipal building, 5500 Camp Meeting Road.

Government can preserve open space by acquiring it or by paying for an easement or development rights. In those cases, the property remains private but can’t be developed.
