Bethlehem Township to Review Housing Developments on Hope Road, Farmersville Road on June 22

The township will review two more housing developments.

Bethlehem Township will review two housing developments on June 22 that could add more than 300 homes on farmland and open space.

“The Fields at Farmersville” by Kay Builders is planned for the 52 acres of open space on Farmersville Road, across from the ballfields near the township Community Center. Slightly more than 100 homes are planned for that land, formerly known as the Miller Farm. The last time I saw an official total, it was 109, but plans change.

Residents of nearby properties were not happy when the plans were announced years ago. Since then, Kay Builders has cut back on the total number of homes and said there will be open space left. The initial proposal was for 166 homes.

The other project on the June 22 agenda is for the “Hope Road Multifamily Development.” The only proposal I’m familiar with for Hope Road is the Chrin V-7 plan for the old miniature golf course and restaurant at the southeast intersection of Route 33 and William Penn Highway.

I left a message with the township to see if there is any other Hope Road plan.

The Chrin plan was for 264 garden apartments in a dozen buildings. “Garden apartments” means the buildings aren’t high rises. It has nothing to do with gardens but it sounds verdant.

The Bethlehem Township Planning Commission will meet at 7 p.m. on Monday, June 22, at the municipal building, 4225 Easton Ave.
