A 34-year-old man shot his girlfriend twice last night, called 911 and then killed himself.
That’s from a statement from Lehigh County District Attorney Gavin P. Holihan and Whitehall Township Police Chief Michael Marks.
The man and the woman, 27, were not identified. The woman survived and is being treated for “critical injuries.”
The shootings happened in an apartment in the 1200 block of Pericles Place.

District Attorney Gavin P. Holihan and Whitehall Township Police Chief Michael Marks are releasing some additional details about a shooting that occurred in the township last night.
Around 10:20 p.m. Aug. 25, 2026, Whitehall Township Police received a 911 call about a shooting that occurred in an apartment located in the 1220 block of Pericles Place.
At this time, the investigation indicates that the decedent, a 34-year-old man, shot his girlfriend two times. She received life-saving measures at the scene from first responders and was then transported via EMS to a local hospital. The 27-year-old female victim remains hospitalized with critical injuries.
The male, whose name has not yet been released by the Lehigh County Coroner’s Office, died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. The male shot himself after calling 911 and admitting that he shot his girlfriend. An autopsy is scheduled for Thursday.
No one else was inside the home at the time of the shootings. There is no indication that any other assailant is involved in this incident.
This remains under investigation by Whitehall Township Police Department and the Lehigh County District Attorney’s Office Homicide Task Force.
