Bethlehem Township may receive $900,000 from the developer of a medical office building because of a retaining wall off Easton Avenue that is slightly out of place.
The Board of Commissioners will review the deal with the developer of the St. Luke’s University Health Network building at its meeting Monday.
The retaining wall at 3311 Farmersville Road, just across the street and east of the blue grillhouse, “was erroneously installed at the wrong location,” the agenda says.
Developer TSV-HPIII Lehigh Valley conceded earlier that the wall was not in the correct spot. In the agreement to be discussed Monday, the developer agrees “to shift the property line/right-of-way away from the wall so that the wall meets the required zoning setback.”
The site of the office buildings was a concrete plant many years ago.
The commissioners will also see a plan for Notre Dame High School’s athletic fields and review “A motion with respect to the Township Manager position.”
The Bethlehem Township Board of Commissioners will meet at 7 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 21, in the municipal building at 4225 Easton Ave. Meeting agendas are subject to change.

How about the developer spend the $900k to remove the wall and put it where it belongs?!? It is not slightly out of place… it’s roughly 5 feet out of place. The road there is already very narrow. Making the right of way even more narrow because the surveyor screwed up is insane.

St. Luke’s knew the retaining wall was not in compliance and even threatened to sue the township, if I recall correctly, if the walk had to be removed. Now, a million will be thrown at the township by St. Luke’s, a non-profit that seems to have money to burn. Shame on the township for caving, especially since this intersection is going to quickly become a nightmare.
