The Nazareth Area School District’s plans for new sports fields and an administration building at the former Calandra’s cheese shop face review from the Lehigh Valley Planning Commission this week.
The LVPC will discuss the plans for the Upper Nazareth Township land at 350 E. Lawn Ave. twice. At noon today, the Comprehensive Planning Committee will review the plan, which will go before the entire commission on Thursday.
From the LVPC website: “The application proposes redeveloping an existing restaurant into a 17,600 square foot school
administration building with parking facility, with three new athletic fields with associated parking improvements by combing three lots at 350 East Lawn Avenue,” next to Nazareth Area Middle School.
The LVPC suggests a traffic study at the location.
Also today and Thursday, the commission will review data centers proposed in Bethlehem and Allentown.
The Lehigh Valley Planning Commission is in most cases an advisory body. Final land-use decisions on the Nazareth school proposal will be made by Upper Nazareth Township.
The Comprehensive Planning Committee will meet today at noon. The full commission will meet at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 24. Both meetings will be available on the Internet. See the above links for web addresses.
