Two board committees will meet Monday. My high school didn’t have an elevator, but it was only one-story high.

The Bethlehem Area School District Board will review bids to fix an elevator at Liberty High School and look at a report on mathematics and reading at its Monday meeting.

The Facilities Committee is looking at spending just short of $40,000 on elevator repair (until today, I didn’t know Liberty High had an elevator).

Here’s the agenda item:

“That the Board of School Directors approves the quote from Kone, Inc., to repair the Liberty High School Student Activities elevator at a price not to exceed $39,770.”

Kone is a titan in the elevator industry.

The Curriculum Committee has a BOY Benchmark Report Overview due on mathematics and reading, breaking things down by grade level and school. It’s not just for boys, the acronym is for “beginning of year.”

The board’s facilities and curriculum committees will meet, starting at 6 p.m. at the education center, 1516 Sycamore St. These are committee meetings, so final votes aren’t held.

The Bethlehem Area School District tends to do most of its work at public committee meetings. Full meetings of the board are usually quick, with little board discussion and fast votes.
