The former Rite Aid at 1781 Stefko Boulevard in Bethlehem is being converted into a beer distributorship.
A “Public Notice of Application” to sell alcoholic beverages is posted at the former drugstore and dated Sept. 26.
The property was sold to a limited liability corporation last December for $1.3 million, according to Northampton County records.
There has been some activity recently at the site. The floor space was empty, but lights were on and a screen blocking the view through the doors was removed.
The land area of the lot is just under three-quarters of an acre, but its location on the busy street and lots of parking boost its value. The building was put up in 1985 and covers 11,900 square feet, according to a real estate ad.
Rite Aid suffered from competition from Walgreens and CVS, and Walmart, Giant and other businesses have added pharmacies, while Amazon.com expands in healthcare.
