Six Flags, owner of Dorney Park, today reported third-quarter revenue of $1.17 billion.

Shares rose in early trading. The company will hold a conference call at 8 a.m.

Revenue was down 11% from the year-ago quarter, but after omitting the results of seven parks that were sold and one that closed, revenue on a “same-park basis” was up 1.4%.

The company loss $366.1 million, or $3.59 per share, much of that from non-cash write-downs. In the year-ago quarter, Six Flags lost $1.19 billion, again because of non-cash charges.

Adjusted EBITDA in the third quarter — a measure of profitability that excludes interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization — was $493.2 million. Adjusted EBITDA was up 1.1% on a same-park basis.

Shares of the amusement-park operator have plunged this year, as the 2024 merger of Six Flags and Cedar Fair has not met investors’ expectations and the company carries a heavy debt burden. Total debt as of Sept. 27 was $4.9 billion.

Chief Executive John Reilly discussed the fatal accident at Six Flags Over Georgia last month.

“We have launched a comprehensive review of ride safety across our entire portfolio, supported by independent third-party engineering and inspection specialists. Our robust safety programs and practices are designed to meet or exceed established industry standards. We will conduct this work thoroughly, looking for opportunities to further strengthen our approach to ride safety,” Reilly said in a press release.

The statement noted that “October was softer than planned driven by unfavorable weather on several of the biggest weekends early in the month and by the impact of the tragic incident at Six Flags Over Georgia and related proactive ride closures.”

Six Flags expects fourth-quarter adjusted EBITDA on a same-park basis to be lower than last year. Today, it forecast $140 million to $150 million compared with fourth quarter 2025 same-park Adjusted EBITDA of $167 million.

Shares of Six Flags (NYSE:FUN) closed at $7.93 on Wednesday. As of 7:29 a.m. today, shares were trading at $8.62, up 67 cents. Trading outside of regular hours can be volatile.
