Tennessee-Based Real Estate Firm Buys Former Furniture Retailer Near 25th Street and Route 22 for $1.86 Million; Building Was Once a Silo Store (Update)

A little nostalgia; the store at 2499 Northampton St. in Palmer Township was most recently Just Furniture, but many years ago, it was a Silo. Check out the cars (maybe at least one K-car?). Photograph from the county website.

(Updates with note from reader that it will be Caliber Collision, along with an item from Palmer’s annual zoning report.)

A Tennessee-based real estate firm has bought the former Just Furniture in Palmer Township, right off Route 22, for $1.855 million, according to Northampton County records.

County records say the buyer is a limited liability corporation based in Nashville, with the same address as Oldacre McDonald. That business “is a full-service commercial real estate firm, specializing in the development of shopping centers and build-to-suit retail, restaurant and residential projects across the country.”

Oldacre McDonald lists Aldi, Kroger, Old Navy and many other retailers as clients.

A reader sent me a note that Caliber Collision will operate at that site. Palmer Township’s 2025 Annual Report includes a note about the auto-repair business:

From Palmer Township’s annual report.

The 2.7-acre property was most recently Just Furniture. That retailer’s closest store is now at 4750 W. Tilghman St. in South Whitehall Township.

The location is near retailers, offices and residences, just down the street from Wilson Area High School and Easton Area High School, and near the former Dixie Cup plant, which is proposed 400 or so apartments and additional development.

It’s a prime location, near lots of offices and retailers, and close to the proposed apartments at the former Dixie Cup plant in Wilson.

According to the county website, 2499 Northampton St. was once a Silo store. That chain was known for selling appliances and for it’s irritating “Silo is having a sale? A what? A sale” radio ads.

The old Silo chain expanded rapidly and then went bust, going into bankruptcy in 1995 and closing all stores the next year, according to Wikipedia.

I shopped at Silo in the old days. Yes, I am that old.

Below is a record of the sale of the property, effective April 13.

It will be a Caliber Collision. It already received conditional use approval from the BOS.

Thank you. I saw a zoning post about it but was not sure it was complete. I will add a note.
