The Meadows Bridge connecting Lower Saucon Township to Hellertown may reopen in June.
That depends on weather, according to a notice from Lower Saucon.
The old Meadows Bridge was a four-span stone structure over Saucon Creek that was built in 1858 for $899.47. It was deemed unsafe and closed in 2018, then demolished in 2022. Some residents complained about losing the historic structure, but Northampton County and the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation said a new bridge was the best option.

The original bridge helped farmers take grain to the Levi S. Moyer Grist Mill. The new one connects a suburban township to a borough.
So look for a new route between Hellertown and Lower Saucon sometime in June.
In 2024, the cost of the new bridge was estimated at $3.1 million, with the state picking up 80% of the cost and the county covering the remaining $600,000 or so.
Why rush it ? lol
