Frank Casilio and Sons, a Bethlehem-based concrete maker, has been acquired by another Pennsylvania company for an undisclosed price.
New Enterprise Stone & Lime (NESL) said it has acquired Casilio, which has ready-mixed concrete plants in Allentown, Bethlehem and Nazareth.
The deal combines two family-owned businesses with roots dating back to before World War 2.
Casilio was founded in 1938, according to its website, while NESL was founded in 1924.
“Frank Casilio and Sons, Inc. has serviced ready-mixed concrete customers across the Allentown Area for nearly 90 years” according to a statement from New Enterprise, and “is highly regarded in the community, with outstanding people, assets and attractive operating characteristics.”
NESL is based in its namesake town, New Enterprise in Bedford County. It provides construction materials and is a contractor for highway and heavy construction.
Paul Detwiler III, chief executive of NESL, said the acquisition expands New Enterprise’s capacity in the Lehigh Valley.
“This transaction is consistent with our strategy to grow our construction-materials business both organically and through acquisitions that are within our existing geographic footprint,” he said in the company statement.
NESL is privately held. Its businesses include construction materials such as crushed stone, sand and gravel, known as aggregates; asphalt; ready-mixed concrete and site preparation for heavy construction.
