The Bethlehem Area School District has named Georgiann M. Fisher as its new chief human resources officer.
Fisher last worked at the Upper Perkiomen School District, Montgomery County, in a similar post. She has experience at for-profit and non-profit employers, according to a statement from the BASD.
The new personnel head has professional certifications in investigations and Title IX coordination.
In a statement from the school district, Fisher said she wants to build a culture of “trust, transparency and excellence.”
Last week, the district named Dr. Renato M. Lajara as its new superintendent, pending board approval. Lajara will succeed Jack Silva, who is retiring at the end of June.
The Bethlehem Area School District is the sixth largest in Pennsylvania, with about 12,500 students. The City of Philadelphia district is the largest, with about 200,000 students.
